Children & Family Support Services

Services Overview

We offer tutoring, child advocacy, crisis intervention, life skills, on-site counseling, and recreational activities for children living with or affected by HIV/AIDS at our welcoming home located on the south side of Youngstown.

Children are nurtured, challenged, encouraged, mentored, and enriched. The child and family program provides services to 55 children each year.

Services Include:

  • Weekly tutoring sessions for school-aged children, year-long academic enrichment and periodic educational programs and outings
  • Mentoring and life-skills building, including helping teens transition to young adulthood and college
  • A monthly play support group at the Ursuline Sisters Café
  • A summer program of academic enrichment, recreation, outings, nutritious meals, and one-on-one attention as well as enrollment in outside summer camp programs
  • Advocacy, intervention, and assistance with issues concerning housing, education, social services, material needs and physical well-being, as the children's needs arise

Pre-K Outreach Program

Our monthly home visits provide parents of babies and toddlers help with early childhood literacy and connections to local resources. We also conduct needs assessments and assist with family stability.
